1. Standards and their requirements Our cabinets are designed to meet the strictest European standards regarding the safety and storage of flammable products or compressed gas cylinders. EN 14470-1 : This standard, which came into force in October 2004 and was amended in 2023, governs the storage of flammable liquids. It applies to cabinets with an internal volume of 2 m³ or less. Our cabinets guarantee optimal protection against the risks of fire and fire spread. EN 14470-2 : In force since April 2006, this standard specifically concerns the storage of compressed gas cylinders in laboratories. It applies to cabinets with an internal volume capable of storing cylinders with a total capacity of less than 220 litres. Our cabinets are designed to offer maximum safety under these conditions. FM 6050 (Factory Mutual) : This international certification attests to the fire resistance of the fire-retardant materials used in our cabinets. It is obtained through rigorous testing, including a 10-minute fire resistance rating for safety cabinets, in accordance with the NFPA 251-169 temperature curve. NF EN 16121+A1 : This standard specifies the requirements for determining the safety, strength, durability and stability of all types of storage furniture for communal use. In the event of a fire, every second counts. Our cabinets are designed to provide optimal protection for at least 30 minutes, thereby preventing the spread of fire and limiting risks. Three fire resistance classes have been defined by the standards to enable users to choose the cabinet best suited to their needs and the assessed level of risk: These classes ensure that, even in the event of a fire, the contents of the cabinet remain protected for a sufficient duration to allow for a safe intervention. Type 30 : 30-minute fire resistance. Type 60 : 60-minute fire resistance. Type 90 : 90-minute fire resistance. Our cabinets undergo rigorous fire destruction tests in accordance with standards EN 14470-1 and EN 14470-2. These tests are carried out by external laboratories accredited by COFRAC, thereby guaranteeing their reliability and compliance. Containment volume : The containment tray integrated into our cabinets is designed to hold at least 110% of the volume of the largest stored container or 10% of the total stored volume. This ensures effective containment of liquids in the event of a leak or container rupture. Construction : The doors of our cabinets are fitted with automatic locks in any position, in accordance with standard EN 14470-1. The cabinet walls are of identical construction and thickness, ensuring uniform protection. The standard’s requirements relate to the cabinet’s construction, which must withstand external fire conditions (tests carried out in accordance with ISO 834-1 and EN 1363-1).
